Lisa’s fundraiser for Peaches Womb Cancer Trust

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As many of you know, our lovely mum and grandma, Christine McLaughlin, passed away on 4th July from a stroke, brought on by complications from metastatic womb cancer. She was diagnosed in Summer 2022 and had been having treatment since that time. She was such a kind, generous, caring and selfless person who loved life and was very active in the community. From hosting MacMillan coffee mornings, serving breakfast to the homeless at the Salvation Army, baking cakes for anyone and everyone, cleaning the church she was a member of, to being a member of the U3A and a regular walker and gardener, she really loved to be part of a team effort, helping others and gaining a real sense of satisfaction from doing so, and always with a smile on her face. Words cannot express how much we will all miss her. She was the cornerstone of our family and has left a huge void in our lives.
BUT…. We did not want Christine’s energy, determination and enthusiasm for life to not be recognised. We know she would want to help others who are diagnosed with the same type of cancer she had, to have a better chance of survival and this is where the Peaches Womb Cancer Trust come in..
The organisation, based at St Mary’s hospital in Manchester is made up of a team of researchers, doctors and nurses who work tirelessly to develop early detection tests and new treatments for womb cancer. Womb cancer is the fourth most common cancer among women in the UK and yet, one which attracts the least funding, leaving women with a poor prognosis once diagnosed, as there are few treatment options available. We want to change this, and make sure that we raise awareness of this type of cancer, and the funding which goes into researching it, to ensure that fewer women ( and families ) have to go through what we as a family have experienced with our mum and grandma.
We would so greatly appreciate your donation. Please know that it would go to such a worthy cause and also, ensure that Christine’s legacy would contribute towards a more successful future for women diagnosed with womb cancer. In this way, our mum and grandma lives on, helping others as she would truly have loved to be remembered.
Thank you, everyone. ❤️
