Emelia’s 13th Birthday: A Milestone Worth Jumping Out of a Plane For

✈️✈️✈️

This Thursday, April 17th, is no ordinary day — it’s my beautiful daughter Emelia’s 13th birthday. Becoming a teenager is a big deal for any child, but for Emelia, it’s nothing short of a miracle.

💖💖💖

Over the last 13 years, Emelia has battled more than most of us could ever imagine. Born with Turner’s Syndrome and facing severe global developmental delay, along with heart surgeries, bowel surgeries and feeding problems as well as both physical and mental disabilities, her journey has been anything but easy. There have been many moments I wasn’t sure we’d see this milestone — times that tested every part of us as a family. But somehow, through it all, Emelia’s smile, her spirit, and her strength have shone through and kept us strong!

😘😘😘

She is a happy, brave, determined girl who takes everything in her stride. She is, quite simply, My HERO.

❤️❤️❤️

To celebrate Emelia’s 13th birthday — this massive, beautiful milestone — myself and my eldest daughter Cherie have decided to do something completely out of our comfort zones: something we never dreamed of doing, a tandem skydive. Yes, we’re jumping out of a plane! And Yes I think we’re completely bonkers!!

🤗🤗🤗

We’re going to take on this crazy challenge not only in honour of Emelia, but also for the incredible charity that has supported her, and us, throughout these challenging years: Tŷ Gobaith in Conwy.

Tŷ Gobaith has been a lifeline for my family, offering vital respite care when we needed it most. Their compassion, expertise, and support have helped us through some of our darkest days — and given us room to breathe, regroup, and carry on with love and strength. Supporting not only me with counselling and support but also Emelia’s two sisters and her brother, giving them support and experiences that would not have otherwise been possible.

In order to take part in the skydive, we need to raise a minimum of £800 in sponsorship. So, we’re reaching out to ask for your help. If you’re able to donate — no matter how big or small — it would mean the world to us, and to many families like ours who rely on Tŷ Gobaith’s services, care and support.
