Story
In a very typical me-move of trying a new hobby every other month, I decided to "tri" a little triathlon for the amazing Clean Break this year. Because why only run, when you can bike, and why only bike when you can also swim, right?
For those of you who have not heard of Clean Break yet, here is a little bit about the wonderful charity I am proud to work for and now swim/bike/run for in July!
Clean Break was founded by two women in prison who believed in the power of theatre to transform lives. Our vision is of a society where all women can realise their full potential, free from criminalisation. Through our unique work on stage, in prisons and in the community, we raise difficult questions, inspire debate, and help to effect profound and positive change in the lives of women who are criminalised.
Having worked for Clean Break for 5 years now I have seen first-hand the impact our participation programme and artistic productions have on the women we work with and for. And how it can change someone's life.
And in times when funding is harder to come by than ever, we need help to raise vital funds to keep delivering our work. So whether you are supporting me in a little way or a big way, THANK YOU! Every bit will get me closer to my £1000 goal and will ensure Clean Break can support more women with lived experience of the criminal justice system!
Did I give myself enough time to actually train? No.
Am I somehow trying to avoid the cliché of doing a marathon or HYROX while absolutely doing the same thing in different packaging? Probably yes.
Is the cause I am raising money for the actual star of the show? Absolutely!
