Live for Lexie The Run

The Live for Lexie Team is raising money for UK Sepsis Trust
In memory of Lexie Hadfield

Live for Lexie The Run! 120 Mile Ultra Marathon · 7 May 2027

Sepsis accounts for 48,000 deaths annually in the UK, that’s more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer put together. Sepsis is what happens when our immune system overreacts to an infection. Symptoms initially present as flu like but can rapidly deteriorate into a life threatening condition.

Story

Lexie was passionate about her family, her friends, and the gym. The gym wasn’t somewhere Lexie just went to exercise. It was a place that gave her confidence, purpose, friendships, and was one of the many parts of Lexie that turned her into the incredible and strong woman that we all knew so well and love.

Lexie knew from first hand experience how transformative strength training could be, both physically and mentally. From this, Lexie truly believed that strength training was for everyone, regardless of age or gender. But nothing brought more joy to Lexie in the gym than seeing a strong woman on the bench press, or pulling a heavy deadlift, or just pushing themselves to see how capable they truly were.

Whether she was training herself, encouraging others, or celebrating someone else’s achievements, Lexie always wanted people to see what they were capable of.

Those of us who knew Lexie will always remember her kindness, her determination, her sense of humour, and the way she could make you feel so welcome, comfortable, and inspired ‘to try.’ Lexie’s laugh would truly fill the gym when she was there, and you couldn’t help but smile.

Lexie passed away on December 17th, 2025, from sepsis. She was beautiful both inside and out. But Lift for Lexie is not about her death, it’s about her life.

Live for Lexie exists not only because she needs to be remembered, but also because her impact deserves to be continued.

Fundraising is at the heart of our fight against sepsis.

It raises awareness, and sparks the question: “What is sepsis? In this way, fundraising can help prevent thousands of deaths & unnecessary suffering through knowledge & awareness of the symptoms.

It also funds our vital support work, Public Awareness, Educating Health Professionals & helping people adjust to life after sepsis through accessing our Support Group network. We also lobby government to support our cause and makes vital changes in areas such as the NHS.
