Liz's fundraiser for Sherborne Abbey

Liz Ashmead is raising money for Sherborne Abbey

I am walking the South West Coast Path from Clovelly to Tintagel from 9 to 16 May · 9 May 2026

Often described as the “Cathedral of Dorset,” Sherborne Abbey is enjoyed by over 50,000 visitors each year. Despite this high level of use, the Abbey currently lacks adequate public facilities, including no public lavatories and not all areas are accessible to all.

Story

I am embarking on a personal trek, walking the South West Coast Path from Clovelly to Tintagel from 9 to 16 May 2026, to raise funds for Sherborne Abbey. This beautiful and historic building stands at the heart of Sherborne as a beacon of worship and community spirit, welcoming the local congregation and visitors of all ages.

Sherborne Abbey is more than just an architectural treasure; it is a vital center for congregations and the wider community. However, it currently lacks essential facilities such as loos which are crucial for the comfort and convenience of all who come to worship or visit. Improving these facilities will enhance the experience for everyone and ensure that the Abbey remains a welcoming place for generations to come.

I am seeking your support to help raise £3,000 towards this important cause. Your generous contribution will directly fund the installation of much-needed loos inside the Abbey, making a lasting difference. Please join me in preserving this cherished landmark by donating today and helping us create a more accessible and hospitable environment for all.
