Story
In loving memory of my mum, Bea, who sadly died at Treliske Hospital in 2024, I will be completing eight fitness challenges across one day- one for each day my mum spent in hospital, in her final moments. This is to raise funds for the Butterfly Cornwall Fund, part of Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity for palliative and end of life care. This will include over 12 miles of cycling, an ice bath plunge, a sea swim and 5 fitness classes at Atlantic Reach in Newquay, including a 1 mile pool swim and gym session.
I have been training very hard for this event over many months, as this challenge is deeply personal to me.
During my mum’s final days in hospital, I experienced just how important comfort, dignity and compassion are — not only for the person, but for the family sitting beside them, during such a heartbreaking time. The Palliative and end of life team, helped us navigate the worst time in our lives with their enduring compassion and this challenge is to support them in helping other patients and families, who must spend their last days together, in Hospital.
Sadly, this is something many of us may experience at some point in our lives and your kind donations allow the Butterfly Cornwall Project to purchase additional equipment, improve and enhance rooms used for patients at end of life, provide some added home comforts and in some cases make a 'Rainbow Day' happen meeting a patients special wishes.
Any donation, would be so appreciated and would go towards improving these last precious moments together. If you could please tick the Gift Aid option if you are a tax payer- this is a government tax relief scheme. It costs you nothing, but means the charity will receive an extra 25% ❤️❤️
