I'm sure you will all know why I'm going to be raising money for this cause!

In May 2022 I underwent major bowel surgery for an early cancer, which was only found by chance, I didn't have any symptoms. The operation left me with a temporary ileostomy , which came as a total surprise when I woke from the anaesthetic. What followed was a difficult recovery and seven months afterwards I had another operation to reverse it. Then, seven months after, I needed a large parastomal hernia repair which was caused by the stoma!

Before all this happened I enjoyed keeping fit by jogging, walking, circuit training and swimming. All these pastimes came to an abrupt halt in May 2022 as recovery was a very long and painful process, both emotionally and physically. But here we are in Aug 2024 and only now do I feel confident and ready to get back to feeling like me again.

I've got many months before this run to get fit and fundraise for this worthy cause, to help new research into causes and cures for bowel cancer and disease. My Grandfather died in the 1950's of bowel cancer when he was 59, so much research has been done since then, and I'm sure I have benefitted from it. I feel very lucky to still be here , and I'll be forever grateful to the wonderful NHS . If you can spare any amount I, and the charity, will be so grateful. ........Now where did I put my trainers ? !!
