Liz Hinds is raising money for Chameleon Buddies

Kilimanjaro Trek 2025 · 3 October 2025 to 12 October 2025 ·

We promote social inclusion among people living with a stoma or childbirth injury, both in the UK and in Kenya. We are passionate advocates for providing hope for people struggling to live with lifechanging injuries’ following childbirth, aiming to help women to adapt to these changes.

Story

Hi thought you might like to know , I’m climbing MT Kilimanjaro in October 2025 . !!!

Please keep giving !! We still trying to raise enough money for a hospital wing !

All money donated goes directly into the charity . It is not used for any admin or expenses.

I have been part of a charity Chameleon Buddies for sometime and now assist in leading a support group in Alnwick . I have recently become a trustee for the charity . Stoma products are stored in my house and it is used for sorting products before being sent to Kenya . We all have underlying medical problems and have had surgery with stomas fitted.

Scary !!! My training has started! I’m excited and very passionate about this cause as I live with the challenges everyday. To be part of funding a hospital wing for ladies in Kenya who have very little is such a privilege. 😊 😧!! Thanks to Gil Castle ( founder of charity ) she is an inspiration to me through what she has achieved so far.

We are raising funds to build an entirely new hospital wing at the Gynocare & Fistula Hospital, Eldoret, Kenya, incorporating stoma and continence clinic rooms, education facility, storage room and a safe space for peer support .

I will be accompanying Gil to visit the hospital and meet and support ladies in the community in April before my climb in October . This will be such a privilege and humbling experience to talk with these ladies and even more of an incentive and determination to participate with other ladies passionate for raising funds to provide long term support .

This will be a challenge, and an opportunity for us to push ourselves. We’ll head into the wilderness and tackle Mt Kilimanjaro and rise from the rainforests on the slopes of this dramatic peak. Over nine days of great adventure we will hike at altitude from alpine meadow to luna-like landscape, until we summit the 5,895m peak. It’s not just a trek; it’s a symbol of resilience and hope for women who have been injured from childbirth, or who are adapting to life with a stoma.
