Mount Mulanje Climb 2025 · 21 June 2025 to 23 June 2025 · Start fundraising for this event

Today, 1,890 babies will be born in Malawi. 320 will become orphans. 87 will die before their first birthday from malnutrition or illness. We’re the only organisation in southern Malawi able to feed, house and care for these babies and support their return to their communities.

Story

In June 2025 I am joining a small group to embark on a 3 day climb of Mount Mulanje in Malawi to reach Sapitwa Peak, the highest point in South-Central Africa.

We are taking on this challenge to raise awareness and vital funds for Open Arms Malawi, a charity that supports orphaned and vulnerable children in Malawi. The trip is entirely self funded so any donation you are able to make will go to Open Arms Malawi.

With the help of Open Arms these babies can stay in the care of their families. The Malawian led team provides these families with formula milk, nutrition, baby essentials, and access to medical care - along with ongoing advice and support to make sure the baby continues to thrive. They're not just providing hand outs though - through agriculture and business support, the families are empowered into self-sufficiency giving them and the child a brighter future. In addition Open Arms provides short term infant care when needed and supports nine nursery schools, providing early years education and a daily meal to over 600 children.

To continue these services and to extend them to more babies and families in desperate need, they need our support. Your donation will go a long way in helping these children not only survive but thrive within their families.

Thank you!
