As no doubt we are all aware, one of the best things that we can do as individuals to help in the fight against climate change is to plant trees.
For the last 9 months I have been volunteering for Moor Trees, a local charitable organisation in Devon, who source, collect and germinate local broadleaf tree seeds, nurturing them in their 2 nurseries to plant in and around the Dartmoor and wider Devon area, to restore native woodland.
In the ‘22-‘23 planting season alone, Moor Trees supplied almost 19,000 trees for local woodland creation, and we have an impressive 15 year tree survival rate of 97.7%, so we really are making a difference!
To help to raise funds towards installing an irrigation system at our Broadley nursery, I plan to cycle the circumference of Dartmoor, following the 90 mile Dartmoor Way, on the weekend of July 22-23, starting and finishing in Buckfastleigh and staying overnight in Lydford, the halfway point.
I have never undertaken a cycling challenge of this magnitude before, so I am very grateful for your support with my endeavour.
