In memory of Umarah, a beloved 15-year-old who returned to Allah early, we continue her legacy through the Faith Inspire youth program, STEPS. We are raising funds for a cause close to her family’s heart as Sadaqah Jariyah in her name.

Story

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Bosnian War, a conflict that devastated the region and left deep scars in the hearts of many. The war, which lasted from 1992 to 1995, resulted in the loss of thousands of lives and displaced countless families. One of the most tragic events during this period was the Srebrenica massacre, where over 8,000 Bosniak Muslim men and boys were killed in July 1995. It serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of peace, unity, and the resilience of the human spirit.

In July, I will be visiting Bosnia with 30+ fellow students from LEAP. Together, we have decided to take on a legacy project for Umarah, a LEAP alum who left this world too soon, by helping to rebuild Second Elementary School in Zavidovici.

This historic educational institution, founded in 1958, is in urgent need of repairs. It has suffered from years of neglect and was used as a military barracks during the Bosnian War, causing lasting damage. The school has started on the project and is in dire need of funds to complete the work.

Please donate however little or as much as you can.

Your contribution - big or small, will help restore the school, creating a space where future generations can thrive, learn, and grow, free from the shadows of the past.

Thank you for your generosity and support.
