Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. We’re running the 2024 Great North Run, to support the work of the MS Society.
Back in 2007, Liz became ill in the summer and after having an MRI and a lumbar puncture she was diagnosed with MS in January 2008.
After the initial shock and a lot of tears, Liz decided the best way to dealing with her diagnosis was through positivity!
A year previous to Liz falling ill she took part in the Great North Run and vowed to come back and not let her MS get in the way!
Through the research and drug advancements over the years, it has meant that Liz now only has medication twice a month and not 3 times a week!!
So, here we are, 2 nutters, who thought what a great way to give back and raise some money for the amazing work of the MS Society by running 13.1 miles! (The .1 is very important!)
The training has commenced and we really appreciate all your support!😁
Here’s some more about the incredible work of the MS Society 👇🏻
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an unpredictable condition that affects your brain and spinal cord. In MS, the coating that protects your nerves (myelin) is damaged. This causes a range of symptoms like blurred vision and problems with how we move, think and feel.
More than 130,000 people in the UK have MS. Once diagnosed, MS stays with you for life, but treatments and specialists can help you to manage the condition and its symptoms.
The MS Society is here to help everyone live well with MS.
Every year they reach thousands of people with help and support through their MS Helpline and local groups. They campaign on the issues that matter most to the MS community. And they invest in ground-breaking research to stop MS in its tracks.
Together, we are strong enough to stop MS.
