English Channel Relay 2026
Campaign by SwimTayka (RCN 1176079)
The English Channel swim is seen as the Mount Everest of all swims as more people have climbed Mount Everest than have swum the English Channel. Swimmers will take part in a relay team of 6 from Dover to France, with the swim taking 12 - 18 hours.

Story

🌊 My Story 🌊

I've always been a water baby! Growing up on the north shore of Lake Superior in Ontario, Canada, I’ve been plunging into cold water since I could crawl. From those chilly beginnings, I’ve taken my swimming obsession on a world tour! The Caspian Sea? Check. Outer Hebrides? Done that. Zanzibar, the Galapagos, Amazon? Of course! I’ve even braved the icy waters of Antarctica!

If there’s a sea, an ocean, or a puddle big enough, chances are I’ve jumped in. But there’s one epic challenge that I’ve yet to conquer… the English Channel! 🌍

🦈 What am I doing? 🦈

That’s right, I’m FINALLY taking the plunge and crossing off a massive LIVED LIST item: swimming the English Channel! But I’m not doing it alone—I’m part of an awesome relay team from British Columbia called the Salish Sea Sisters, and together we’ll tackle the cold water (likely 14C), jellyfish (yikes!), waves, and dodging massive ships. Our mission? Swim from Dover, England, to the sunny shores of France in June 2026! As the crow flies this crossing is 21km, however, with the tides, current, and wind it will likely be around the 35km mark. Our 5 person team will swim in rotation for an hour, tagging out until we hit that French coast. It’s going to be EPIC! 🚤🇫🇷

💧 Why SwimTayka? 💧

Here’s where it gets even cooler: I’m raising money for SwimTayka, an amazing charity teaching kids in underserved communities how to swim and stay safe in the water. Did you know drowning is one of the leading causes of accidental death worldwide? But SwimTayka is on a mission to change that, giving kids the skills they need to be safe and pass on that knowledge to others. 🌍💙

🚨 How You Can Help 🚨

Here’s the deal: I need your help to make this adventure count. I aim to raise CAD 3,500 for SwimTayka, and every donation makes a splash! It doesn’t matter if it’s the size of a ripple or a wave—every dollar helps save lives. 🌊
