Story
I am running the Edinburgh Marathon on 24th May 2026 in memory of my lovely dad and ‘my mate Dan’ who both died from Pancreatic cancer within months of their diagnoses.
Pancreatic cancer has a very poor early diagnosis rate.
It took over 12 months for Dad to be diagnosed and 9 months for Dan, by which time it was too late for life saving treatment. Dad lived less than 6 weeks after his diagnosis (but told he had 12 months). Dan lived less than three months after being diagnosed. He was only 53. No-one should suffer like they did.
Pancreatic Cancer Action is the only UK charity dedicated to saving lives through early diagnosis.
Pancreatic cancer is the 5th biggest cancer killer and the 10th most common cancer in the UK. In the UK, 93% of all patients die within 5 years of diagnosis.
How your fundraising helps us:
£50 could mean the difference between life and loss — helping a local GP or pharmacist recognise the signs of pancreatic cancer sooner with expert, life-saving information.
£20 helps Pancreatic Cancer Action keep our online health information accurate, up to date, and easy to access — so anyone worried about symptoms can find trusted answers.
Together, we will save lives.
