In October 2024, I was unexpectedly admitted to Intensive Care with pneumonia. It was a scary time for me, my family, and my friends.

Recovery after ICU wasn’t easy. Physically and mentally it was challenging and I quickly realised how little support there is once you leave Intensive Care.

That’s why I’ve chosen to raise money for ICUSteps, a charity that provides much-needed support and resources for patients and families during and after an ICU stay.

I started Couch to 5k 7 weeks ago, and on 11th October I’ll be running a Parkrun to raise money for ICUSteps.

I am nearly a year on from being in ICU and I feel incredibly lucky to be where I am today.

This will be a huge challenge for me but it’s nothing compared to what patients and families face every day.
