Story
This run has been deferred from March 2023 Reading Half. Throughout that year I was hindered by injury and work pressures that didn't allow me to complete the run, and nor the Oxford Half 2023 which I immediately signed up for after accepting I wasn't going to be able to run Reading.
So, here we are - with training starting in February 2024 which involved me training myself to carve out enough time to get out for a walk at least three times a week. I worked out that mornings were best. Soon enough I progressed to the Couch to 5k programme and now I've hopefully prepared my body and schedule enough to complete the half marathon training plan.
Many of you will know that I have completed a marathon and several half marathons in the past. But having not completed a half since 2019 (or run much since then), getting older and heavier I really have had to acknowledge that it was time to start from scratch again!
Over the last few years I've been involved with the Cholsey Volunteers, if you don't know about them, check out our running team's page to learn more. In short, they are a complete community lifeline. I'm fortunate enough to not need them personally, but I have seen similar charities help my own family members where they live, and knowing that support is there motivates me to support this charity which is local to me, helping others' families and loved ones.
Thank you for visiting this page and for your support.

Thank you to those who donated for the original Reading run - I have added these donations as 'offline' donations to this page and are already with the charity - they haven't been forgotten!x
