Yn ystod mis Hydref, mi fyddai’n cymryd rhan yn ‘Tiny Tickers: The 100 Challenge’ ac yn cerdded 100 km, tra bydd fy mrawd, Siôn, yn rhedeg marathon Gaer i godi arian i elusen Tiny Tickers - elusen sy’n agos iawn at ein calonnau ni yn dilyn profiad Nedw.
Mae Tiny Tickers yn elusen sy’n codi ymwybyddiaeth o ‘Congenital Heart Defects’, yn cynnig cefnogaeth i deuluoedd CHD ac yn cynnig hyfforddiant i sonograffwyr fel bod mwy o CHD’s yn cael eu darganfod yn ystod sgan 20 wythnos y fam.
Mae 1 ym mhob 100 o fabanod yn cael eu geni gyda CHD, ac 1 ym mhob 3,000 yn cael eu geni gyda’r cyflwr oedd gan Nedw, sef ‘coarctation of the aorta’.
Doedden ni ddim yn ymwybodol o CHD Nedw nes oedd o’n bythefnos oed ac yn ddifrifol wael yn yr ysbyty, lle bu’n rhaid iddo wedyn gael llawdriniaeth agored ar ei galon pan oedd o’n dair wythnos a hanner oed a rydyn ni mor ddiolchgar o’r gofal gafodd o.
Mae elusen Tiny Tickers mor bwysig i fabanod a theuluoedd CHD, ac mae’n siŵr fase profiad Nedw a ninnau wedi bod yn hollol wahanol pe baen ni’n gwybod am ei gyflwr o flaen llaw.

During October, I’ll be taking part in ‘Tiny Tickers: The 100 Challenge’ and will be walking 100km, and my brother, Siôn, will be running Chester Marathon this weekend to raise money for the charity, Tiny Tickers - a charity that’s very close to our hearts following Nedw’s experience.
Tiny Tickers is a charity that helps raise awareness of Congenital Heart Defects, offers support to CHD families, and provides training for sonographers to help detect heart defects in the mother’s 20 week scan.
1 in every 100 babies is born with a CHD, with 1 in every 3000 born with Nedw’s condition which was ‘coarctation of the aorta’.
We weren’t aware of Nedw’s heart defect until he was critically ill in hospital at two weeks old, where he then later had open heart surgery when he was just three and a half weeks old and we’re so grateful for the care he received.
Tiny Tickers is vital to CHD babies and families - we’re sure that Nedw’s and our experience would have been pretty different had we known of his condition before hand.
