Story

Next year I am running my first ever marathon in memory of my amazing Mum, who sadly passed away on 31st March 2024.

Mum had Motor Neurone Disease and Frontotemporal Dementia - each devastating on its own, but together unimaginably cruel. It's not something I'll ever truly recover from, but I want to do what I can to raise funds and awareness for the MND Association in the hope one day a cure will be found to spare other families from the same heartbreak.

If you are able to support, I’d be incredibly grateful - your generosity will keep me motivated through the tough months of training ahead.

Jess x

PS. Sadly I wasn’t blessed with Mum’s speed — so it’ll be more of a slow plod / crawl to the finish line. My knees will probably be hanging off by the end, but I’ll get there!

I’ve included some information from the MND Association below to help explain what Motor Neurone Disease is, for those who may not be familiar.

Motor neurone disease (MND) is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting. MND can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. However, not all symptoms necessarily happen to everyone and it is unlikely they will all develop at the same time, or in any specific order.Although there is currently no cure for MND, symptoms can be managed to help you achieve the best possible quality of life.
