Story
In May and June 2023, members of the orchestra and team of London Mozart Players will be running/walking at least 1000km to raise money for the LMP’s amazing Equal Pay education initiative. https://www.londonmozartplayers.com/equalplay/
Every young person should have the chance to hear and play live music. It is this simple belief that has been the driving force behind our education work across the Croydon community for the past 30 years.
Through our work, we want to support young people to overcome the practical and perceived barriers that prevent them from accessing and engaging in music education. From financial challenges in receiving music education at home or in school, or perceptions around the “type” of person that the arts are for, we want to create spaces for artistic exploration amongst young people that reflects who they are now, and helps them grow into the people they're becoming in the future.
Building on our 30-year history of delivering education work in Croydon, LMP is working with a number of Education Ambassadors to help tackle the issue of young people not having ongoing access to arts education. At the forefront of the scheme are LMP Education Ambassadors Sheku Kanneh-Mason, Jess Gillam, Matilda Lloyd and LMP Young-Artist-in-Residence, Leia Zhu.
