Story
As I gear up for the London Marathon this year, I'm filled with a mix of excitement and the usual nerves, only this time, I'm aiming to finally get that arbitrary sub 3-hour time.
Shooting Star is something special. It's hard not to get emotional about it, especially as a new-ish parent. Our son Rex had a slightly tricky start in life, but thankfully, he's now thriving as the "lively" toddler he is.
Our experience pales in comparison to what some families are going through, families who are supported by Shooting Star. I've scrolled through quite a few JustGiving pages, each story more heart-wrenching than the last, and it really puts things into perspective. These parents are facing unimaginable hardships, the kind that really tests the human spirit.
So, while I'm getting prepped about beating my own time, it's also a reminder that this run is for something wayyy bigger than PBs. It's for those parents and children who are in the thick of their battles, showing incredible bravery every day. Shooting Star is there for them, offering a lifeline during the toughest times.
We’ve had our small share of challenges but it’s nothing compared to what some of these families face. That's why I'm running. And if I can persuade a few generous souls to open their wallets and support this amazing cause, then every aching muscle after the marathon will be worth it.
So, if you've got a few quid to spare, think about donating. It's going to be an emotional day, not just for me but for everyone involved with Shooting Star. Your support can make a real difference. Plus, you'll get to see if I can actually pull off this sub 3-hour goal without turning into custard.
Thanks for considering a donation, and here's to making the day unforgettable—for all the right reasons.
