Lois' 262ft Abseil for Leukaemia UK

Abseil the ArcelorMittal Orbit · 24 June 2023
In November 2022 my mum, Amanda /Mandy went to A&E with persistent cold and flu symptoms. She was severely anaemic and had a dangerously high white blood cell count. Nothing could have prepared our family for the devastating news we received less than a week later. On November 9th 2022 my mum was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia.
I’m not looking for pity, but this is the least I can do to support my mum through her journey. Anyone who knows my mum knows she’s strong, a fighter and WILL beat this 💪🏾.
Raising money for Leukaemia UK will fund life-changing research into Leukaemia and help provide support services for people living with blood cancer, so please help if you can. 💚
Not enough people from minority ethnic background are on stem cell donation registers. Only 3% of people in the UK are registered as stem cell donors. Currently, 72% of patients from White, Caucasian, backgrounds can find the best possible match from a stranger. This drops, significantly, to 37% for patients from a minority ethnic background. By building and diversifying the stem cell register, it will provide the best match to more people with blood cancer.
