RUNNING A HALF MARATHON A MONTH FOR LOLA’S LEGACY
Some of you may be aware that at 21:25 on Thursday 11th December, my daughter Lola May Sullivan was born sleeping, having been told at a private scan days earlier that unfortunately, the doctor was unable to find a heartbeat.
The silence of that room as me and my wife held our second daughter will never, ever leave me. In the 24 hours that followed, Lola laid next to us in a cooling cot provided by Abigail’s Footsteps.
Abigail's Footsteps is a UK baby loss charity that provides Abi’s Cooling Cots which are refrigerated units for hospitals to help bereaved parents spend extra precious time bonding with their baby after stillbirth or neonatal death, allowing for memory-making before the body's natural changes occur.
These units are not available in each maternity ward in the UK, so this year I will be running a half marathon every single month, to raise money to ensure as many maternity wards across the country have access to these cots so as many bereaved families can spend time with their angel babies before it’s time to say goodbye.
I will be running a half marathon every single month this year, with my first in THREE DAYS on Sunday, in London’s Victoria Park.
I understand finances are tight after Christmas, but this page will be open throughout the year, with my final half marathon intended to be around what would have been Lola’s first birthday in December 2026. Those of you that know me personally, will know the only exercise I did in 2025 was a breakfast run, so this is an almost impossible challenge I’ve set myself that I will only complete with determination, support and a desire to ensure Lola isn’t forgotten.
Any support would be most appreciated.
Thank you.
