Cycling from London to Edinburgh, fundraising for Milestone's Trust

Pete Dyson is raising money for Milestones Trust

London to Edinburgh - non stop cycle record attempt · 12 June 2025

Milestones Trust's vision is that people have opportunities to live happy and fulfilled lives. We achieve this for the people we support by promoting health, wellbeing, independence and engagement for people with learning disabilities, mental health needs and dementia.

Story

On Thursday 12th June, I will attempt to cycle from London to Edinburgh without stopping, aiming to break a longstanding world record of 17hrs 42mins. The distance is 388 miles (624km).

I've organised this solo and independently, being overseen by the Roads Records Association (RRA) and a support van throughout (for hydration and nutrition). I will leave St Pauls Cathedral at 5am, pass through Peterborough, Lincoln, York, Darlington Newcastle, Jedburgh and then Edinburgh for 10:30pm (around sunset!). It will be the hardest cycle I've ever done, for sure.

<if you're reading this after Thursday, you know how it went! Hope I did my best and it warrants retrospective support/congratulations/commiserations>

I'm raising money for an important charity, Milestones Trust who have been supporting adults with learning disabilities and adults with mental health needs to live their best lives since 1986. Over 500 people benefit from their work, and in particular 'Warmley Wheelers' who offer adapted cycle sessions so more people can enjoy Bristol's railway path.

I've seen these their rides myself, they are inspirational, and my Bath CC cycle club have been long standing supporters of the cause.

Welcome all donations.
