Story
I am running the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2025 in memory of our close friend Del.
Del was a funny, caring man whose smile was infectious. He loved being outdoors and spent most of his spare time fishing and kayaking. He was a huge Leicester City fan and spent most of his weekends as a steward on match days, during the week he was also a dedicated member of the Sea Cadets and impacted many young people’s lives! Unfortunately, Del was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in March 2022
Motor Neurone Disease is a rare condition that affects the brain and nerves, it occurs when cells in the brain and nerves gradually stop working.
After his diagnosis Del decided to not let this stop him from living every day to the fullest! We began to watch this disease slowly take over his life, eventually removing his ability to walk, talk and do all of things he loved. Although Del was slowly losing a bit of himself everyday, he never let it take away his smile! After battling with Motor Neurone disease for nearly two years Del sadly passed away in February 2024.
After seeing this awful disease take over an incredible mans life i have decided to dedicate this run to Del, and would like to raise as much as possible to prevent this disease from causing any more devastation to others lives.
Please give as generously as you can, every donation brings this amazing charity closer to hopefully finding a cure for Motor Neurone Disease! You can follow my training journey on the following social media:
