Story
Cancer terrifies me. I think we’ve all felt its reach, through friends, family, or our own personal experiences. We’ve lost good friends - Ian six years ago and, more recently, Jim to this terrible disease. We’re also dealing with family members currently undergoing treatment and others who have come through the other side in to remission. We’re so grateful that they’re still with us and we don’t take that for granted.
So, I’ve been lucky enough to bag a charity place to run London Marathon 2026 to give back and to raise funds for Action Cancer, a local charity doing life-saving work right here in our community. From free breast screenings and health checks to counselling and support services, their impact is real.
I use their mammogram service, something that isn’t available to women my age through the NHS. Action Cancer provides it completely free of charge, but it costs them £120 for every scan. That’s a cost they carry so that women like me can have peace of mind and early detection when it matters most.
Please consider donating and help me smash my minimum target. I need to raise £1200 by January 2026 and another £550 by April 2026 but I would love to raise as much as possible to give back for these vital services!
Every pound helps, no donation is too small! I know times are tough so appreciate anything you can give.
Let’s help Action Cancer continue their vital work, giving more people the chance to catch cancer early, receive support through treatment, and hold onto hope in the face of something so difficult.
