Story
If you've followed me for a long time, you'll know that I love to take on exciting challenges and support good causes along the way. Often, when I complete a challenge, people ask me, "What's next?" And I'm incredibly excited to announce my next challenge!
I, along with my support/guide runner, will be taking part in the 2025 London Marathon, completing the full distance by self propelling in my manual (non-racing) wheelchair.
My Assistance Dog Rowley will be supporting me during training, but he won't be completing the full marathon distance as this would be too far for him. Fainting episodes are much less likely to occur when I'm sitting down in my wheelchair, but I will be taking extra safety precautions such as wearing a cycle helmet and will have a support runner who can grab my wheelchair and stop me rolling away into a ditch if I do have an episode in Rowley's absence!
I will be fundraising for The Surrey Coalition of Disabled People, a local charity run by disabled people for disabled people. I began working with the charity back in September 2024, and have seen first hand the incredible difference they make to so many people in my community. I am very proud to be supporting them!
