This year is Nightingale House Hospice's 30th Anniversary and to celebrate we will be running our Longest Day, Lasting Care campaign to help fund the very best palliative care for local people and support their families.

Story

For 30 years, staff at Nightingale House Hospice have created an environment that gives patients and their loved ones quality time to spend together. Not having to worry about the care a loved one receives, knowing they are in safe hands, means every second spent together is dignified and peaceful. Without support such as yours, our specialist palliative care units wouldn’t be able to deliver such high standards.

To raise awareness of the vital work of our hospice and to raise funds our Longest Day, Lasting Care campaign, this summer, on the longest day of the year members of our hospice team are taking on a unique and heartfelt challenge.

Over the weekend of the summer solstice ,starting on June 20th members of the hospices local team, Jo Rowley and Jackie Rowley, along with Jackie’s partner Simon and son Thomas are planning their own endurance and fundraising challenge.

The trio will each be driving a vintage tractor around the perimeter of our hospice’s catchment area; a journey that is expected to take approximately 36 hours (including rest breaks) leaving from Holywell, travelling as close to the catchment area border as possible in to Wrexham and out towards the border counties before navigating their way through the beautiful countryside in to Bala, Barmouth, on to Ruthin and Denbighshire border before returning to Holywell hopefully at some point on Sunday June 22nd.

This is no easy task as the tractors, on average, will reach not so hair- raising speeds of 15 miles per hour! Thankfully Thomas will be on hand as their support person with a modern age vehicle!

The team of tractor wheelers have planned this trip not only to raise funds and awareness of the hospice’s incredible work. An additional aim is to complete a journey that reflects the tireless, round-the-clock care we provide to local people living with life-limiting illness – and their families – every day of the year.

Your support will make a lasting impact on those accessing hospice services patients and families alike. Any donations will be so gratefully received and every penny donated will be doubled by organisations who have teamed up with the hospice!
