Donations are paid into Solving Kids' Cancer’s general funds for our charitable activities. We help families affected by neuroblastoma through the provision of support and information; as well as investing in research and advocating for access to better treatment

Story

At 4am on Saturday 30th August I will be heading out with my long-time friend Malcolm Barbour on our (well, technically his) most harebrained scheme yet – to run, walk and possibly even crawl around the 150-mile London Outer Orbital Path (LOOP).

We're taking on this challenge to raise money for Solving Kids' Cancer UK in memory of my son, Adam, who died in July 2013. Our goal is to complete the LOOP in 48 hours, finishing on 1st September to coincide with the start of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

While both Malcolm and I have run marathons and ultra-marathons, 150 miles is far beyond anything we've ever attempted before. The risk (and fear) of failure is real but we're determined to give it our best shot.

High-risk neuroblastoma is a type of childhood cancer that affects around 50 children in the UK each year, and despite an intensive 18-month treatment schedule the chances of survival are no more than 50%. Solving Kids’ Cancer UK is dedicated to funding research that delivers tangible impact and benefit for these children and providing vital support to families affected by the disease. I have been privileged to be a member of the Board of Trustees of SKC since 2016, and to help the charity help children and families affected by this terrible disease.

Your kind donations will go towards helping SKC continue working towards the day when no child dies of neuroblastoma or suffers due to treatment.
