We have compiled a team of the Portakabin faithful who will both be cooks and front of house on the night of the “Lord Mayor’s Cook Off” for the Snappy Trust and York Women's Counselling Service Charities. We are also having a "Bake Off" cake sale and dress down day on Friday 22 March 2024 for the same charities.

We have devised a delicious menu and have a great team from across the business to ensure a memorable evening for two worth causes. There is a competitive element against a team from Anaplan, a tech company with York offices (who are also compiling a team and guest list) – most money raised wins!

Our event will support the two local charities chosen by the civic party for their year in office.

Snappy Trust

● Snappy offers play & leisure activities in York to children and young people with wide ranging disabilities and dedicated to maximising their personal development. Together staff and an amazing team of volunteers encourage personal growth, fun and friendship.

● Living with disability can leave families isolated, but at Snappy they can explore a wide range of new activities and gain life skills that may not be easily accessed elsewhere. Hugely important is that Snappy provides somewhere to come where they feel safe, wanted and nurtured.

York Women’s Counselling Service

● provides one to one counselling to women who are experiencing emotional and mental health difficulties as a result of current or past emotional stress or trauma.

● offering help when women need it, for as long as they need it, regardless of their financial circumstances.

● Many of the women who come to us are complex and view themselves as not deserving of help. Our volunteer counsellors build trust and help to get them to get themselves on track, something that can’t be achieved in the 6 sessions which is the maximum on offer in the NHS.

● Our programmes are designed simply to provide the best and affordable counselling in a confidential and safe setting for women.
