Story
Hi, I’m Loren and I’m the Home Manager at The Herons Care Home. I’ve decided to do something completely out of my comfort zone (I’m terrified of heights!) and I’m jumping out of a plane to raise funds for a truly special place: The Herons Care Home, and more specifically, to help renovate the much-loved but much-needed garden.
The Herons isn’t just a care home — it’s a family. The staff go above and beyond to care for residents with love, patience, and dignity. And for many of the people who call The Herons home, the garden is their connection to the outside world — a peaceful space to sit, reminisce, and share moments with others.
Right now, though, the garden at The Herons is in need of some attention and means that many residents can’t enjoy the space safely or fully.
I want to change that.
That’s why I’m doing a skydive, to hopefully raise money to help fund:
• Raised flower beds for residents to garden and engage with.
• A garden that’s easy to maintain, so the garden stays beautiful and accessible all year round.
• Dedicated areas where residents can grow their own fruit and vegetables — encouraging activity, purpose, and joy.
• A safe, social space for residents, staff, and visiting families to come together outdoors.
With your help, we can turn The Herons’ outdoor area into a true haven — a place of life, laughter, and calm for every resident. Every donation, big or small, makes all the difference and brings us one step closer to creating the space our residents deserve.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart — and from The Herons family too.
