Story
Hello my name is Loriell, and I’m running half a marathon on October 12th to raise money and awareness for the amazing work that The Royal Marsden does for our loved ones. They treated and cured my nanny back in 2016 when she was first diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.
My relationship with my nan is something I will forever cherish and be grateful for. Anyone that knew her, knows that she would light up any room she walked into. Her presence was a comfort in itself and her love for everyone was deeply felt by all. Being raised by such a strong, independent women has taught me so many things about myself and has allowed me to grow into someone I know she would be proud of. I want to be able to do this run for her, to show that her strength, courage and power is reflected through myself and in everything I do. And I will continue to do so throughout my life.
I want to show my deepest appreciation and respect to The Royal Marsden Hospital team. They were the first hospital dedicated specifically to diagnose cancer and are ranked in the top five cancer centres in the world, for their impact of their research and treatments they perform on 59,000 patients yearly. The work they perform with such a high level of care and education is unmatched, and my family and I will always be grateful for the wonderful care they showed my nanny during her time she spent here.
Unfortunately, we later lost my nan in 2022 when she was diagnosed with another form of cancer being pancreatic, which is incredibly difficult to treat. Leading it to spread quickly across her body. However, I will forever be grateful for the The Royal Marsden Hospital, as we got to have many more years of memories which I’ll always hold closely.
For this reason all money raised 100% of it will be going to this hospital to help future patients with their ongoing testaments. I want to be able to help save many more lives and families, and give back to the community that had saved our Nan whilst they could.❤️
