Story
Last year, a peaceful ride out with my horse Ted turned into something I’ll never forget — and not for the reasons you might expect.
While riding with a friend on the beautiful but remote Quantock Hills, I had a serious fall. I don’t remember much — concussion has a way of wiping your memory — but I do remember the incredible team from Exmoor Search and Rescue arriving quickly, calmly, and with such care that I instantly felt safe despite the confusion and pain.
There were real fears I’d broken my pelvis. The professionalism and reassurance they brought in that moment was something I’ll never forget. Thankfully, I was able to make a full recovery — but it really opened my eyes to how essential this volunteer-run service is.
So, this October, I’m walking 100 miles to raise funds for Exmoor Search and Rescue — a team of volunteers who give their time, skills, and energy to help people in their greatest moments of need, often in the most remote and challenging parts of the countryside.
🚶♀️Every step I take is in thanks to them — and in support of the incredible work they do for countless others every year.
If you can spare a few pounds to support my fundraiser, it would mean the world to me — and even more to them.
Thank you for reading, and thank you for your support!
