Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.

Story

Any support would be much appreciated and your donation is not only a fabulous and much needed motivator for me but also going to a great cause. Thank you again so much for all your support.

Please read below the main reason why I am running this for CRY.

In 2023 I had just finished teaching yoga in a school when I received an incredibly sad message from Hilary letting me know that sadly her daughter Clarissa had suddenly passed away from an undiagnosed cardiac condition whilst hiking during her University year in France. Clarissa was just 20 years old, full of life and had everything to offer this world. I will never forget standing there in the street absorbing such devastating news and as months passed I watched Hilary and family not only have to process the most unimaginable grief ever but also find a way to channel their energy into campaigning in memory of Clarissa (Clarissa’s Campaign). They have both raised awareness of CRY and funds to enable early identification and prevention.

Running this half marathon for CRY means a lot to me, not just as a parent to two sporty young adolescents but so that I too in whatever way possible can also raise awareness of of the work CRY does and raise funds for early screening and identification of this condition. Any donation would be much valued and appreciated. Or indeed if you could share news of this fundraiser I would be so grateful.

Thank you for reading this far!

You can read more about CRY below.

Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions.

With your donation, CRY can reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young.

By supporting CRY you will help save young lives from these potentially fatal cardiac conditions.
