Lorna's fundraiser for Children's Hospices Across Scotland, (CHAS)

West Highland Way race · 21 June 2025
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 21st June 2025, I will be running the West Highland Way race, a 95 mile ultra marathon from Milngavie to Fort William starting at 1am 🌄 This will be a massive challenge for me, having never ran over 42 miles and I would like to take this opportunity to raise as much money as I can for @supportchas.
Rachel House in Kinross and Robin House in Balloch are the only children’s hospices operating across Scotland, with both hospices designed in a way to feel like home 🏡
Robin House was opened in August 2005 and provides integrated palliative and end-of-life care for children and young people with life-limiting conditions, as well as respite care for the entire family.
Due to living near to Robin House and watching it being built, I felt the need to help in some way and in 2006 I started a volunteer role in the children's activities team within the hospice 🎨🪁🏓
During my induction I was shown a dragonfly sign hanging on the front door and was told that it was there as a sign to let staff and visitors know that there had been a death within the hospice that week, a sign I sadly saw too often.
Despite this, it never felt like a sad place to work. The overriding feeling when I walked into Robin House was always calmness and warmth. I witnessed the amazing care and support provided by the staff and volunteers and the strength and courage of the children and their families. It truly is a special place.
Please help me to support the children and families of Robin House by donating whatever you can and I will try my very best to get to Fort William within the 35hr cut off time 🤞🙏
Thank you ❤️
