Story
In 4 months i'll be running the MK marathon (with a few extra races along the way) in support of Alport UK!
Alport Syndrome is a rare disease which affects a persons kidneys, eyes & ears; often leading to the need for renal replacement therapy at a young age.
The focus of my research is in understanding the relationship between Alport Syndrome, pregnancy and renal health, an area which is historically understudied leading to vague clinical guidance.
Alport UK is an incredible patient led organisation, ran on an entirely voluntary basis that creates a supportive network for both patients and their families, and ensures that the patient voice is central in the global scientific effort to better understand the syndrome and the development of new treatments.
I've seen first hand the impact of this absolute power house charity on the Alport community (both scientific and patient) and continue to be endlessly inspired by the work they do.
This is just my tiny way of giving something back to a team that i'm in complete awe of - any donations will be hugely appreciated!
