Story
In memory of Lorraine
Lorraine was a proud Scottish lass from Lesmahagow, full of strength, warmth and joy. She met our dad, Allen, while he was working in Scotland and staying at the hotel run by her parents, and from that moment, their story began. Together they built a life grounded in love, laughter and family.
She was a devoted mum to her three children, Alison, Colin and Paul, a natural nurturer who made friends wherever she went. People were always drawn to her accent, and when they commented on it, she would smile and lean into it, replying in an even stronger Scottish tone, “Are you alright, hen?” — a phrase that never failed to make people laugh.
Lorraine loved socialising with Allen at the local social club, where there was always music, dancing and familiar faces. In the heart of her home, she loved to cook, especially for her grandchildren — Rhys, Toria, Megan, Ieuan, Eirys, Seren, Erin and Oliver. The kitchen was once a place of warmth, comfort and togetherness, filled with the smells and sounds of family life.
In her final years, Alzheimer’s slowly and cruelly took away the things she loved and the things that made her who she was. She began to forget how to cook, how to care for others in the way she always had, and eventually, even forgot the world around her. Watching this happen to such a strong and vibrant woman was heartbreaking beyond words.
This page is in memory of Lorraine — a loving wife to Allen, a devoted mum to Alison, Colin and Paul, a proud nanny to her beautiful grandchildren, and a true friend to many. We are raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society so that other families may one day be spared this pain, and so that those living with this devastating disease can be better supported.
From her loving family, always and forever.
