COPS is a UK charity dedicated to helping the families of police officers and police staff who have lost their lives on duty to rebuild their lives. We aim to ensure that surviving family members have the help they need to cope with such tragedy and they remain part of the police family.

Story

So far this year SIX police officers have died whilst on duty including PC Matthew Blades and PC Tom Clough who both leave grieving families.

That means SIX families have lost loved ones and others have lost friends, colleagues and neighbours.

Christine Fulton MBE is a long standing volunteer at Islay Dog Rescue near Cumnock. Her husband, Lewis, was killed while on duty when they had been married less than two years and had a seven month old son.

Along with a friend she created Care of Police Survivors in 2003.

COPS helps surviving family members (‘survivors’) rebuild their shattered lives.

Since its foundation in 2003, COPS has helped hundreds of police families devastated by the loss of a loved one who died on duty.
