Story
Every day in the UK, around 1,100 people hear the words 'you have cancer' — and over 400 of those cases could have been prevented. That's 155,000 people every year.
To reduce the number of preventable cancers, we need strong research. Then we need to make that information accessible to as many people as possible, to help them make simple, everyday changes to their diet, weight and physical activity. A lot of the time, the focus is placed on treatment, when we need to be shouting about the importance of prevention.
That's exactly why we're fundraising for World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF). Lottie works at WCRF and is passionate about understanding how diet, physical activity and body composition can prevent cancer - and improve the lives of those living with and beyond it. Polly is a lifelong sporting enthusiast who cares about the importance of physical activity, not only for fitness, but for prevention and general well-being.
We want to help WCRF's vital research reach as many people as possible. So in July, we'll be completing the Gower Peninsula Ultra Walk - 100km in 2 days up and down the hilly coastal paths of Wales, to raise money for all the incredible work WCRF carries out.
We're no longer 6 years old (see photo 2!) — but we've clearly been in training for a long time!
