Story
On the 26th April, I will be running the London Marathon to raise money for the UK Sepsis Trust. I will be running in memory of my friend Lizzie's brother, Tom, and to support the work the charity does raising awareness of sepsis and supporting families affected by it. Lizzie has written a few words below about him, and why this cause means so much to their family.
"My brother Tom was the best person, who got the most from life out of anybody I’ve ever known. In April 2025, Tom tragically died from sepsis whilst travelling in India. He was 22 and he was fit, healthy and sensible. I miss him every day. Tom’s death wasn’t fair because sepsis doesn’t discriminate.
Since Tom’s death, The UK Sepsis Trust have been a massive support for my family, providing information and invaluable support. They work to raise awareness of sepsis, as with better understanding, faster treatment and the right support lives can be saved. They’re such an amazing charity and, hopefully with more donations, so many more people can be aware of the small symptoms to take seriously to avoid this vicious illness which escalates so quickly."
Sepsis is a medical emergency which can take a life in hours. Please also take a few minutes to watch this short video explaining how to spot the red-flag signs of sepsis.
