Story

This summer, the Lough Neagh Rogues are embarking on an exhilarating journey as we take on the ultimate challenge: the North Channel Swim 2024! This isn't just any swim – it's a test of our endurance, determination, and spirit as we push ourselves beyond limits we never knew existed.

Our fearless team consisting of members from Dot's swimming and open water club and the Lough Neagh Monster Dunkers – Seamus Higgins, Lee Wilson, Mark Judge, Martin Murphy, Peter Kelly and Jordan Leckey, along with our dedicated trainer and coach Dorothy Johnston and mentor Chris Judge – are ready to take on this challenge with all the grit and determination we can muster.

Our team will swim as a relay 21.4 miles (34.5km) of the North Channel between Donaghadee, County Down and finishing in Portpatrick, Scotland.

But this isn't just about us; with every stroke, we will raise awareness and funds for Pips Hope & Support. Pips is a charity that's mission is to reduce the number of people who take their own lives and equip communities with the skills to recognise and respond to emotional distress.

The rogues are diving in headfirst to support those who are struggling with suicide, self-harm, and emotional distress. So, join us as we swim towards a brighter tomorrow, where every person facing mental health challenges knows they are not alone. Your support will directly fund intervention services, prevention programs, postvention support, and trauma assistance, providing a lifeline for those in their darkest moments.

Together, let’s create waves of change by making a splash for mental health! πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’™
