Story
On Saturday 18th July, a slightly mad bunch of family and friends are tackling one of Britain’s toughest walks ( not sure what we were thinking) . The Yorkshire Three Peaks. This is 24 miles 😫 with a slightly traumatising 1,585m of uphill – Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough – all in the Yorkshire Dales.
We’re doing this to honour Cliff (my brother), who sadly passed away from scleroderma.
Cliff was a lifelong Liverpool supporter and a brilliant guitar player who was well known and thought off by everyone in the area where he grew up and worked as a builder.
11 of us are lacing up our boots (and buying a S*** load of blister plasters) to raise funds and awareness for Scleroderma & Raynaud’s UK (SRUK) the brilliant charity that supports people living with scleroderma and Raynaud’s while funding research for better treatments and, hopefully one day, a cure.
Scleroderma is a rare autoimmune condition that hardens the skin and can affect internal organs too. It affected Cliff in all ways taking him far too soon, so we have decided to turn this into a positive and drag our bums ( drag is probably the best description) up some massive hills for this great cause.
Every pound (even a fiver) will make a real difference and help others facing the same battle. If you can spare a few quid to help the cause that would be amazing.
We’ll be thinking of Cliff with every painful step (and probably muttering his name when the hills get steep). Wish us luck – or at least send snacks or 🥃 !
