Story
Ellie and I will be running the Hampton Court half marathon for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, which is a charity that’s very close to my heart, as my lovely friend Katie is 28 years old and has been diagnosed with Triple-Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) — an aggressive form of breast cancer that affects roughly 10–15% of all breast cancer patients. TNBC is one of the least researched subtypes and has fewer targeted treatment options than most other forms of breast cancer, making continued research and funding even more crucial. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy at The Royal Marsden, where she is receiving world-class care. The money raised will go directly to The Royal Marsden Charity, helping to fund the hospital’s vital research and support the development of new and better treatments for people facing diagnoses like hers. The charity and hospital are very close to Katie’s heart and will play a huge role in her treatment.
Every donation helps drive crucial research, improve treatment options and funding for the hospital to provide additional care (such as going towards their new charity funded Centre for Urgent Care, which Katie has received emergency care at).
Katie wants to stress that cancer does not discriminate by age — young people can and do get breast cancer, and early detection can make all the difference. She would like to raise awareness about the importance of checking your breasts regularly — no matter your age.
Your support means the world to me, Katie and her family. 🩷✨
