Story
I have set myself the target of walking 5k a day throughout October to rasie vital funds for PKD Charity.
Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) is a serious inherited condition that affects around 70,000 people in the UK, often leading to kidney failure.
Some of you may know that my husband Russ was diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease in his mid-twenties and has been living with the condition which has severely impacted his quality of life. In 2027 it is likely that he will have to undergo dialysis and a kidney transplant.
PKD Charity is the only UK organisation dedicated to supporting people with PKD and their families. Since 2000, they’ve funded groundbreaking research into treatments that slow progression, reduce pain, and improve quality of life.
They also run support groups and events to offer help, information, and a sense of community—reminding those affected they’re not alone.
I’m walking to raise awareness and support the fight against this incurable disease. Every donation helps fund research, provide support, and bring hope...especially to the man that I adore.
Please support my walk if you can.
