We stand for everyone affected by dementia to find a cure

Story

Family members and many who I visit in my role as an ordained minister are living with Dementia.

Alzheimer’s Research UK are the UK’s leading dementia research charity. They believe that research is our only chance of changing the ending for people affected by dementia. They exist for a cure.

Looking ahead to 2025

I have continued to use this page to fundraise towards a 50k Ultra Marathon event in 2025 - details to follow soon.

I just thought, if I could run close to 30 miles at Outlaw 2024 when the 3.8km swim was changed to a 5k run due to blue-green algae then surely I could do an Ultra Marathon in 2025.

My fundraising target for Outlaw 2024 was £650 and I raised over £1000. I have increased my target to £1250 to raise money as part of my Outlaw 2024 and my 2025 Ultra Marathon 50k challenge

Thank you

Lou

Info from 2024 challenge:

I plan to complete the Outlaw Ironman distance triathlon on Sunday 28th July 2024, a race which involves a 3.8km swim, 180km bike and finishes with a marathon (42.2km). Training for this event will be challenging due to working a 6 day week and my limited training time. I hope that I can complete 2 swim, 2 bike and 2 run training sessions a week, so I can finish the race. However, raising money for dementia research will be worth the pain of me completing such a huge challenge.

Please considering donating. Your donation helps their scientists and researchers find new ways to diagnose dementia, develop new treatments and find a cure for dementia.
