I don’t usually ask for support, but this cause is incredibly personal to me. My little boy, Myles, has been diagnosed with a benign brain tumour and is likely to undergo surgery later this year.

To help make a difference, I’m participating in an event (details below) alongside an amazing group of researchers dedicated to brain tumour research. My goal is to cover 100 miles in May — running, cycling, rowing, even ski erging😆.

I’m also doing this for my lovely friend who has been diagnosed with the same tumour as Myles🩷, and in hope for all brain tumour patients and their families.

It’s been over a year since I last ran reguarly, as I’ve been prone to injuries, so I’ll be taking it slow and steady — little and often, with fingers crossed for no setbacks.

We are a dedicated team of brain cancer researchers united in our mission to support Cancer Research Wales.

All of 17 of us are passionately involved in brain cancer research in laboratories, clinics, and supportive roles.

As part of our commitment, we are excited to announce our initiative: "We will walk the extra mile to beat brain cancer."

Throughout May 2025, for every £1 donated, we will walk, run, or cycle one mile. Our goal is to raise £1,680 – a symbolic representation of the length of Wales' stunning coastline. This funding will directly support Cancer Research Wales' Brain Tumour Research Initiative, which focuses on discovering life-saving therapies, enhancing diagnostics, and advancing supportive neuro-oncology research.
