Story

2027 London Marathon ❤️

Running the London Marathon has always been something I’ve wanted to do, but this time it’s about so much more than crossing a finish line.

Many of you know me as your chiropractor. What many of you won’t know is why mental health is a cause that means so much to me.

This is also something I don’t usually talk about or openly share, but I wanted people to understand why this marathon means so much to me. The photo I’ve shared is one of the last pictures I have of my mum, which makes it incredibly special to me.

When I was 10 years old, I lost my mum to suicide. It’s something that has shaped who I am and the way I see the world. No child should have to experience losing a parent in that way, and I often wonder how different life might have been if she’d been able to get the support she needed.

My mum was a midwife and spent her life caring for other people. She was incredibly kind, generous and devoted to my brother and me. Looking back, I often think that those who dedicate their lives to looking after everyone else can sometimes be the very people who need support themselves.

Mental health is something that affects so many of us, either personally or through someone we love, yet too many people still struggle in silence.

Every day I have the privilege of helping people improve their physical health, but I’ve learnt that health is about so much more than our bodies. We never truly know what someone is carrying beneath the surface.

For those of you who come to the clinic, you may now understand why we place such a huge emphasis on greeting every person by name, making everyone feel welcome and creating a genuine sense of community. Within our team, we often say that if someone seems withdrawn, frustrated or even a little grumpy, we try to outlove them. We rarely know what someone is carrying, and sometimes the people who seem the hardest to reach are the ones who need kindness the most.

Training for a marathon is going to test me both physically and mentally. Every early morning, every long run and every difficult mile will remind me that even when life feels hard, we can keep putting one foot in front of the other.

I’m fortunate to have an incredible team of chiropractors and physiotherapists around me to help keep my body in the best shape possible throughout training, and I’m incredibly grateful for their support.

I’ll be running the 2027 London Marathon to raise money for mental health, in memory of my mum, and in the hope that more people can access the support they need before it’s too late.

If you’re able to support me, whether that’s through a donation, sharing this post or simply cheering me on along the way, I’d be incredibly grateful. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will help make a difference.

If sharing my story and running these 26.2 miles helps even one person reach out for help, then every step will have been worth it.

If you’re one of my clients, thank you for trusting me with your health over the years. Today, I’m asking that, if you’re able, you help me make a difference to someone else’s.

Thank you for supporting me, for remembering my mum with me, and for helping make a difference. ❤️
