Louise's fundraiser for LHON Society

Louise Gover is raising money for LHON Society
We are a patient-led support group for a rare condition called Leber's Hereditary Optic Neuropathy (LHON). Our group is comprised of LHON patients, family members and medical professionals. Our aims To provide support and information to those impacted by LHON; patients, their family, friends and healthcare providers. Provide guidance and representation on issues that affect the LHON community. Promote up-to-date knowledge and understanding of LHON in the welfare, medical and scientific communities. Facilitate research into understanding and seeking ways of preventing and ultimately reversing sight loss in LHON-affected people.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I’m raising money for the LHON Society, a charity supporting people and families affected by LHON (Leber’s Hereditary Optic Neuropathy) — a rare genetic condition that affects families in many different ways.

For my family, LHON has had a devastating impact. My son lost his sight and is now registered blind because of this condition, and my daughter has developed MS linked to the same genetic mutation. LHON doesn’t just affect vision — it can affect lives, independence, health, and entire families emotionally and physically.

The LHON Society provides support, understanding, awareness, and hope to families facing challenges that many people have never even heard of. They help people feel less isolated while continuing to raise awareness and support research into this rare condition.

I’m fundraising to help them continue their incredible work and to support other families going through similar experiences.

Any donation, no matter how small, would mean so much. If you can’t donate, sharing this page would also be hugely appreciated.

Thank you for your kindness, support, and for helping raise awareness of LHON.
