Story

My name is Louise. I am the Lead Transition Haemoglobinopathies Transition Nurse for the East Midlands Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Network based at the Leicester Royal Infirmary. I am planning to raise money by running a half marathon on the 8th of March, 2026. I’ve set up a target of hitting £500 by then, and another £500 by October - during the second half marathon.

I’m raising money for Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Charity, which provides vital care and support for children living with long-term health conditions. They work tirelessy to support these children with chronic conditions. They are currently over 200 Roald Dahl Nurses, caring for over 40,000 seriously ill children, across the UK.

As someone really enjoys running, I’ve chosen this as my pathway to fundraising. I will challenge myself by completing 2 half marathons, whilst also giving back to a great charity.

Your donation helps families and gives them emotional support, and the practical help they rely on every day.
Together , we can bring comfort, confidence, and brighter plenty to brave children facing tough challenges.
