Munich Marathon · 13 October 2024

1 in 5 children and 1 in 10 adults in the UK have eczema - that's over 8 million people. For almost 50 years the Society has provided information and support and works to dispel myths so those who have eczema need not feel stigmatised, guilty or isolated.

Story

On 13th October 2024, I will be running my first marathon! I will be travelling to Munich with a group of runners from Knaresborough Striders. Training is underway and I'm looking forward to the challenge!

I'd like to raise money for the National Eczema Society.

My 11 year old daughter Annabelle has suffered with severe eczema since being a baby. Being itchy, sore, putting creams on and sleep disturbance have been part of her life for as long as she can remember. More recently, she has trialled methotrexate (an immunosuppressant medicine) to see if that would help. It came with having to have lots of blood tests, which she was very brave with, but unfortunately did not improve her skin. Now she is trying a new injection treatment called dupilumab and we are hoping that this might help.

I'd like to raise money for the National Eczema Society who provide a lot of information and support to people with eczema and contribute to research relating to eczema and new treatments.
