Story
My wonderful dad has recently been diagnosed with MND and has already had so much support from the MND Association
I kept seeing social media posts in April from people who had run the London Marathon for MND and thought I’d love to do it again, but I told myself I couldn’t. When I couldn’t sleep one night, I decided on an insomniac whim to apply for one of MND’s places. I was equally delighted and terrified when I heard that I had a place.
Some of you will have seen my first fundraising page where you donated an incredible £925. I am so grateful for your generosity and compassion, but I will have to ask you to dig deep again to help raise the £2700 minimum in fundraising!
Keep an eye out for upcoming fundraising events. I promise they won’t all be netball-based, but let’s face it, chances are they mostly will be!
Any fundraising ideas or donations of raffle prizes will be very gratefully received, along with offers of company on runs!
Motor neurone disease (MND) is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting.
MND can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink, and breathe. However, not all symptoms necessarily occur in everyone, and it is unlikely that they will all develop at the same time or in any specific order.
Although there is currently no cure for MND, symptoms can be managed to help you achieve the best possible quality of life.
We want to raise as much money as possible to support the MND Association’s focus on improving access to care, research, and campaigning for people living with or affected by MND in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
Your money will help people affected by Motor Neurone Disease. Once you donate, JustGiving will send your money directly to the MND Association. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. Your details are safe - they'll never sell them or send unwanted emails. Thank you again.
